Gavin and Stacey’s 2024 Christmas Special Wraps Up Barry

Upcoming Gavin and Stacey the special episode said goodbye to Barry after filming concluded.

The long-awaited episode will be a sort of anthem to end the series. Filming began recently and will air around Christmas.

Cast members including Ruth Jones (Nessa), James Corden (Smithy), Rob Brydon (Bryn) and Joanna Page (Stacey) have already finished filming in Trinity Street, Barry, and the stars took to the stage to greet fans this week.

Addressing the assembled costumed crowd, Jones said: “You didn’t see anything because we were inside, which shows you are true, dedicated fans of the show and we hope you won’t be disappointed on Christmas Day when all is revealed.”

“This is our farewell to Barry and Trinity Street, so you won’t see us here again, but we had a great 17 years. It was fantastic.”

Corden added: “Thank you so much everyone. See you soon.”

In the meantime, photos from the set have surfaced online, showing the wedding in the finale. Corden, Page, Mathew Horne (Gavin) and others are dressed in traditional attire.

This comes after the 2019 special ended, in which Nessa proposed to Smithy – although his response has not yet been revealed.

The 2024 special was confirmed in May of this year after rumors surfaced; the first news about a single episode surfaced in February.

Last month, Corden confirmed he was “going to Barry Island for the next seven weeks” after the series ended. Component at the Old Vic theatre in London.

He previously revealed that filming would take place in late September and early October, and also announced an episode on Zoe Ball’s breakfast show on BBC Radio 2.

“We really don’t want to give it to anyone unless we feel like it’s… So we have to do a few more trims and a few little tweaks. But I’m really excited to share it with people,” he said.

Gavin and Stacey series 1-3 are available to stream on BBC iPlayer. This Gavin and Stacey The Christmas 2024 special will air on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
