Grey’s Anatomy fans need season 21, especially after the spring cliffhanger that saw multiple doctors fired.

In the 20th season finale, Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen) fired Amelia Shepherd (Catherine Scorsone) and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) for the help of Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). The titular character was instructed to hand over her Alzheimer’s research; fearing it would be buried, she instead posted a summary online. Catherine then fired Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) for refusing to release Teddy while they were in the middle of life-saving surgery on a patient.

“I feel like some fans think that Meredith has just completely moved on from this war that she and Catherine are in, and that that’s going to be picked up on and we’re going to see it change in a completely different way,” Marinis explained. “I think fans are going to be excited about that dynamic between them. Catherine is a really fun villain who is lovable, and Debbie Allen is mesmerizing to watch, but she’s a pretty scary character, so when you have these two strong women in a professional fight, that’s another thing that we’re still exploring.”

When Grey’s Anatomy Fans will find familiar faces in the series, including Sydney Heron, played by Kali Rocha, a lively resident from Meredith’s time at the hospital.

“Of course, we have a few A.D.s who have been fired,” Marinis says. “When we last saw Sydney, she was in baby blue scrubs as resident Bailey. She’s an A.D. now, but she’s still the character that delighted fans in those early days.”

What’s happening in the Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 trailer?

Catherine goes full-on villain in the one-minute trailer that ABC released on Thursday, September 19. “You think you’re a godsend to this hospital,” Catherine tells Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson). “You’re just another doctor.”

Bailey then actually punches Catherine in the face. This may not be the best decision, as Catherine is in a mood to sue. Meredith is quickly hit with a lawsuit amidst her disagreements with Catherine.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Grey’s without a little relationship drama. Elsewhere in the season premiere trailer, Jo (Camilla Luddington) has trouble telling Link (Chris Carmack) that she is pregnant, and Jules (Adelaide Kane) and Mika (Midori Francis) look very awkward after their almost-kiss.

Which characters are returning?

Expect the usual suspects in OR, but some familiar faces will also return. The biggest return is Kali Rocha, who returns as the overly cheerful Sydney Heron after a 17-year absence.

Another Grey Sloan Memorial graduate who will return is Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), who appeared in the trailer for the season premiere, and Ben Warren (Jason George) is a full-time cast member after the spin-off Station 19 ended by hinting that he might be considering a career change once again.

Meanwhile, Monica Beltran (Natalie Morales) is back for at least six episodes, Diversity reports, while Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) according to the schedule, it is to consist of at least five episodes.
