Florida father scares off alleged voyeur with baseball bat caught on camera: ‘I have something for you’

A Flagler County, Florida, father can rest easy after he managed to chase an alleged gunman out of his teenage daughter’s window with a baseball bat.

The argument last Friday was caught on a neighbor’s surveillance camera. It was the second time in two days that the alleged voyeur had been spotted on the family’s property.

“He was standing by my daughter’s window,” the father told FOX 35 Orlando. “I said a few words and when he turned to me, I swung the bat.”

“It didn’t seem to bother him, he was quite a big guy, so I was going to shoot him in the head and when I did he started running away,” he added.

Surveillance footage shows a vigilante father chasing a suspected vagrant Friday with a Louisville baseball bat along Pine Hill Lane while shouting to neighbors for help.

“Call the police… call the police! Somebody call the police,” the Florida dad shouted. “Where are you going, boy? Come here… come here… I’ve got something for you.”

According to a press release, the family “immediately called” the Flagler County Sheriff.

The suspect, Damon Arthur Smith, was immediately arrested after admitting to “being on the victim’s property,” according to the release. Smith told authorities he got a “thrill” from going to people’s homes.

After Smith’s arrest, he was noticed wearing a Michael Myers T-shirt with the words “EVERYONE’S RIGHT TO ONE GOOD FEAR.”

“I don’t know what his intentions were… if it was something that was going to escalate over time and he (Michael Myers) was his role model or what, but we were able to catch him just in time,” the father told FOX 35.

“This pervert said he gets off on peeking into people’s windows, but this time he came across a father protecting his daughter,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement. “Thankfully, officers were able to track down this pervert and book him into the Green Roof Inn.”

Damon Arthur Smith, 29, was charged with loitering or voyeurism, voyeurism – first offence – and persistent harassment of a person under 16.

Smith first had a run-in with the law at age 18, when he made a bomb threat at Flagler Palm Coast High School.
