Since the 90s I wanted to be at the top – America’s Next Top ModelI mean. I remember as a little girl watching this show very closely and loving it. (I sang a song and everything).

For many young viewers like me, the show revealed the inside story of the modeling industry in a way that had never been shown on television before. With each week, I felt like I was learning more about Tyra Banks and her ruthless world.

Tyra’s Post Office it was my hobby.

America’s Next Top Model was – and still is – iconic. We all want to be on top.

The photoshoots were – and still are – iconic. The transformations the models went through were mind-blowing (some even brought tears to my eyes). And the drama? The banter and the relationships between the contestants kept us glued to the screen and talking about them for days afterwards. These fierce women – and eventually men – wanted to be on top and nothing was going to stop them from climbing to the highest echelons of fashion.

Winner of Cycle 3 Eva Marcille and participant of cycle 3 Toccara Jones have been vocal about the impact the show has had on their lives. They have used their quick wit, flawless looks, and undeniable black girl magic to earn their spots on the show. For them, ANTI was not just a competition; it became the opportunity of a lifetime.

Check the latest Atlanta V103 interview below, in which they revealed details about joining the series.

Since the show aired, there has been no shortage of criticism. Some of the challenges, questionable actions and photoshoots, and treatment of the contestants have been the subject of public comment. But love it or hate it, Tyra’s show is fondly remembered for its exposure of the modeling industry and its emphasis on change and diversity.

Let’s be realistic: America’s Next Top Model forced the fashion and beauty world to wake up and acknowledge that representation matters.

Before ANTMwe didn’t see as many plus-size models, dark-skinned beauties, or gender-fluid faces on the runway as we do now. The show helped open those doors.

Tyra’s empire was the launching pad for many of today’s top models, Hollywood stars, and “it girls.” Whether they stayed in the modeling game or branched out into acting, music, and even entrepreneurship, these contestants left their mark on popular culture in ways that simply cannot be denied.

So let’s take a look at some of our favorite leading America’s Next Top Model graduates.

1. Eva Marcille

Eva found success in Cycle 3 with her fierce attitude and memorable runway walk. After her win, she continued modeling – her face was everywhere. More recently, Eva has found even greater success and influence as an actress. She has appeared in Young and Restless AND Real Housewives of Atlanta. Eva is driving now All the Queen’s Men on BET, where she stays busy as a mom, businesswoman, assassin, and truth-teller.

2. Saleisha Stowers

The winner of Cycle 9, Saleisha Stowers, ruled the runways in 2007. After winning, she found success in her modeling career, but it was as an actress that she really found her footing. Saleisha, now known as Sal Stowers, spent several years on the soap opera Days of our lives. Now it’s a staple Sisters BET and is a certified fitness trainer.

3. Toccara Jones

Toccara was a rising star in Season 3 who didn’t let anyone or any industry define her. She challenged traditional beauty standards from the moment she appeared on screen and continues to do so to this day. Toccara’s bold personality and sexy style have taken her far beyond the runway. She has become a television personality, appearing on shows like Celebrity Fit Club AND The final connection. Toccara has also become a real “it girl” in Hollywood.

4. Winnie Harlow

Winnie Harlow is probably one of the most famous supermodel graduates on the show. She quickly gained worldwide fame for her vitiligo and inspiring journey. Many credit Tyra for showing Winnie’s beauty on the runway – and making people notice it. Although Winnie didn’t win Cycle 21, she became a fixture on the runway and a global fashion icon. She has walked for major brands like Marc Jacobs and LaQuan Smith, and graced the covers of several magazines. Winnie has also appeared on television series and reality shows.

5. Naima Mora

Naima won our hearts with her quiet strength and fierce photoshoots during Cycle 4. After winning, she worked in both fashion and music, fronting the band “Galaxy of Tar.” Naima has embraced a multi-faceted career as a motivational speaker, actress, influencer, and more.

6. YaYa DaCosta

Although Yaya didn’t win the ANTM crown, she had a strong acting career after the show. Yaya appeared on hit TV shows like Chicago Med and even portrayed the iconic Whitney Houston in Whitney. Yaya recently posed for InStyle magazine to celebrate the iconic fashion publication’s 30th anniversary.
