Fresh off of her prestigious MTV Video Music Award (VMA) win, Tyla Seethal continues her winning streak after being announced as the headliner for the Victoria’s Secrets Fashion Show scheduled for October 15.

The show returns after a short break, showcasing the widest selection of Victoria’s Secret clothing and featuring its top models in full regalia.

While the remaining performers have yet to be confirmed, it has been revealed that the award-winning star, chosen for her vibrant personality and innovative take on pop and R&B, is tipped to be an integral part of the entertainment, glamour and fashion at this year’s show.

She will join such industry heavyweights as Tyra Banks, Gigi Hadid and Paloma Elsesser.

According to the message shared Rolling stoneTyla expressed her excitement about walking in the upcoming show, saying, “Growing up, I was fascinated by the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – the stunning outfits, iconic wings, and charismatic models.

“Now I’m thrilled to be performing on this nostalgic and legendary stage. It’s even more exciting to celebrate diversity, to showcase a wider range of beauty, which makes this moment truly special.”

The announcement comes days after Tyla won her first Moon Person medal for Best Afrobeat Song at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) highlight, marking a significant victory for African artists on the international stage.

With nominations from Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido, Tems, Tyla and Usher, the 2024 VMAs inaugurated the “Best Afrobeats” category for the second time.

With this win, she became the first African artist and the first South African to win the VMAs. Earlier this year, she won her first Grammy.

In her acceptance speech, Tyla beamed as she emphasised how diverse African music is and that it goes beyond Afrobeat.

“The global impact that ‘Water’ has had on the world proves that African music can also be pop music. It’s so special, but it’s bittersweet because I know there’s a tendency to group all African artists under Afrobeats.

“Although Afrobeats ruled everything and opened so many doors for us, African music is so diverse. It’s more than just Afrobeats. I’m from South Africa. I represent Amapiano. I represent my culture.”
