Phone 16 Pro may not hold title of phone with thinnest bezels for long as Oppo reveals Find X8 photo

Oppo recently showed off a photo of the upcoming Oppo Find X8, and it looks like it outperforms the iPhone 16 Pro in at least one respect.

This comes from a recent post on the X by Oppo Chief Product Officer Pete Lau, which shows an image of two phones side-by-side. The phones in question, according to the comment from well-known tipster IceUniverse, are the Oppo Find X8 and the recently released iPhone 16 Pro. While both devices look quite similar, there is one noticeable difference for sharp eyes, as the bezels on the Find X8 appear to be the thinner of the two.

The image also suggests that the Oppo Find X8 will have a flat screen instead of the curved display we saw on the Oppo Find X7. This seemingly confirms another leak on Weibo by Digital Chat Station (via Gizmochina), which states that the Oppo Find X8 Pro will be the only model with a curved screen. Beyond that, we don’t get to see much of the phone’s design, including whether it will retain the circular camera design that made the Oppo Find X7 Ultra one of the best camera phones on the Chinese market.

We’ve seen a few leaks regarding the upcoming Find X8, with one claiming that the phone will feature a copy of the iPhone 16’s camera button, though it will be called a “quick button.” There are also hints that the Oppo Find X8 will feature a MediaTek 9400 chip, as well as so-called Glacier battery technology, according to Oppo Find series product manager Zhou Yibao.

There’s a constant battle between the best phones when it comes to bezel size. Over the past few years, phones have increased their screen size and reduced their bezels to the point where they’re almost invisible. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, for example, launched with a much larger screen and thinner bezels. However, according to recent leaks, it looks like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra will be even thinner.

As of now, we don’t have an official release date for the Find X8. However, there have been some rumors that we could see a launch on October 21. That’s the same day the Oppo Find X6 and Oppo Find X7 were released. The real question is whether the Oppo Find X8 will release outside of China, after a post on the thread revealed that a European launch is planned.
