“He, at the time, wasn’t attached to the film to play the part,” she said. “I’ll steal something from George, it just wasn’t the part.”

“I would steal other things from George, like the house in Italy… in a heartbeat,” Bullock added.

In another interview with Glamour magazine, she admitted that she was initially hesitant to star in the film because of Clooney’s involvement.

“I got really nervous,” Bullock said. “I didn’t know if George did it for himself. But the response was, ‘We’re okay with that.’ And then the role — I mean, it was so beautifully written for a man. It wasn’t one of those things where you’re like, ‘Hmm, how do I change this to a woman?’ You just change genders; that was pretty much it. She’s a human being. She’s dealing with addiction; she’s dealing with mental illness. She’s brilliant at what she does, and she gets lost in the fact that all she cares about is winning.”
