Miranda Rae Mayo: Chicago Fire Season 13 Premiere Is a ‘Fireworks Show’

Chicago fire Season 12 ended with multiple cliffhangers — and according to Miranda Rae Mayothe series will continue in season 13.

“We have a crazy call that the ambulance ladies need to investigate,” Mayo, 34, said in an exclusive interview. Us Weekly premiere episode, which will air on Wednesday, September 25. “The Women of the Pulpit need to investigate what really happened in the conversation because there is some speculation and that speculation is unclear.”

The actress, who plays Lt. Stella Kidd, has previewed a “difficult” start to Season 13, revealing that an ambulance call left her “gasping loudly” while reading the script.

While the paramedic was Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) and her new partner, Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudson), will have a lot of work to do in the opening match, Mayo said last season’s losses will also be in the spotlight.

In the Season 12 finale, which aired in May, Fire Station 51 said goodbye to Chief Wallace Boden (Eammon Walker) as their superior after becoming deputy commissioner. In season 13, Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) will be responsible — and according to Mayo, “he’s furious” with Kidd.

“It’s a bit like a fireworks show,” Mayo joked, speaking of “the first time we get to see Pascal in action.”

Chicago Fire has been full of steamy romances throughout its run, but nothing compares to Kelly Severide’s relationship with Stella Kidd. She revealed, “He’s a tough guy to read, but he’s also very confident in his path forward. He’s very specific.” Mayo noted that for Kidd and her longtime co-workers at Firehouse 51, “there’s a pride in the firehouse” that Pascal threatens.

However, one of Mayo’s favorite storylines from Season 13 is the storyline of Kidd’s husband, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and his newfound brother, Jack Damon (Michael Bradway). Last season, Damon dropped a bombshell when he revealed that he was Severide’s half-brother and the secret child of their late father, Benny (Treating Williams).

“We see in the first few episodes of the season how Kelly deals with this information,” Mayo said. Us“We see Kelly learning, but then she has to tell Stella and the question becomes, ‘How is she going to deal with the fact that this guy hasn’t been honest with her consistently?'”

In addition to gaining a brother-in-law, Kidd must understand what roles she and Damon play as bosses and employees now that Damon is part of her Truck 81 crew.

“As an audience, you can understand why (he kept it a secret), but as someone who runs a truck and a group in the circumstances and in the profession that they’re in, trust is everything,” Mayo explained to Kidd’s dilemma. “And if she can’t trust you, she can’t have you on the team. So it’s kind of a back and forth of how do we completely deal with that.”

The NBC star noted that even given the complicated dynamics of Kidd and Damon’s relationship, “that was one of my favorite storylines to play because it’s so juicy and so sensitive.”

Kidd added: “Navigating all those layers, all those things. I can’t wait to see it. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together.”
