Pennsylvania Department of Veterans Affairs Recognizes Employees Who Made ‘Enormous Positive Impact’

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) on Thursday honored more than 50 employees for their exemplary service to servicemembers, veterans and their families during an awards ceremony held at the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home (PSSH) in Erie, Pennsylvania.

“Today, my leadership team and I are proud to recognize our outstanding employees from across the DMVA. We want them to know how much we value and appreciate their hard work and dedication,” Maj. Gen. Mark Schindler, Pennsylvania’s adjutant general and head of the DMVA, said in a news release. “Collectively, each honoree has made a profound, positive impact on how we care for our Soldiers, Veterans, their families and our youth.”

DMVA’s Employee Recognition Program includes awards for innovation, outstanding achievement, and Employee of the Year.

The highest honor is the Adjutant General Award (TAG), presented to employees or teams responsible for making positive changes and improving the lives of veterans in Pennsylvania.

After many years of vacancies at home, Heubel was able to fully utilize PSSH’s potential through her diligent recruiting efforts, allowing DMVA to staff the facility to its full capacity, according to a press release.

The 2024 DMVA Employee of the Year is Elizabeth Sul-Celline, DMVA’s Reimbursement Manager. Sul-Celline was honored for her exemplary work and dedication to helping veterans’ homes function optimally.
