What to know about Nate Bargatze’s wife, Laura

Comedian Nate Bargatze has been tapped to host an episode of “Saturday Night Live”’s upcoming historic 50th season.

On Sept. 18, the show revealed its lineup for the first few weeks on social media. The post confirmed that Nate Bargatze, who made his “SNL” debut last year, will return to Studio 8H to host the Oct. 5 episode with musical guest Coldplay.

Nate Bargatze landed the hosting gig for the first time in October 2023 after 20 years in comedy and multiple TV specials, like “The Greatest Average American” and “The Tennessee Kid,” under his belt. At the time, he spoke to TODAY.com about that turning point in his career.

“From five years ago to be here is pretty wild,” he said.

In his stand-up routines, Nate Bargatze frequently mentions and pokes fun at his wife Laura Bargatze, whom he has been married to since 2006. He also jokes about being a dad to the couple’s 12-year-old daughter, Harper.

Speaking to TODAY.com about incorporating marriage and parenting into his jokes, he explained, “You just try to have a balance. You try to do everything where you just have that nice love with it.”

He shares clips from his routines on social media, including funny quips about his wife being “the man” of their household and getting married on Friday the 13th.

The comedian has mentioned in his specials and in posts on social media that he first met Laura Bargatze when they both worked at Applebee’s. In a YouTube Short clipped from one of his routines, he explained that before he became a comedian, he was a host at the restaurant and Laura Bargatze worked as a server.

He said in the video that someone asked his wife if she ever imagined what their life would become after meeting in an Applebee’s.

“She said, ‘When I met him, he was a host, and I didn’t think he was smart enough to be a server,’” he recalled Laura Bargatze responding.

On their 13th anniversary in October 2019, he reflected on their humble beginnings in a funny Instagram tribute to his wife.

Beside a photo of the couple with their daughter, he joked, “Happy 13th Anniversary to my beautiful wife! We met at Applebee’s 20 years ago. “My first memory of her was standing over a broom and kickstarting it like she was a witch trying to fly away.”

He added, “Me and Harper love you very much!”

Laura and Nate Bargatze celebrated their 17th anniversary in 2023

Friday the 13th might be unlucky for some, but for Laura and Nate Bargatze, it has brought nearly 20 years of marriage.

In October 2022, Nate Bargatze celebrated what was actually their 16th wedding anniversary with another sweet family photo on Instagram.

“Happy 17th Anniversary to my wife Laura!” he cheered in the caption. “I love our little family and thanks for going along with all the crazy that goes on.”

He mentioned Laura Bargatze being by his side and supporting him before his comedy career took off.

The comic then playfully added, “The main reason for this post. Is I forgot to do all the things you asked me to do. But technically it’s also my anniversary. So I have been celebrating. I love you and Harper so much!”

Last year, on their real 17th anniversary, he penned some more kind words for his wife.

“Wow, we’ve been married 17 years today. “Friday the 13th turned out to be OK,” he joked. “I couldn’t have done any of this without you. I love you Laura. Happy Anniversary!

Laura and Nate Bargatze have a 12-year-old daughter

The couple became parents when they welcomed daughter Harper Blair together on July 8, 2012.

Nate Bargatze uploaded an adorable picture to X of the newborn sleeping to announce her arrival.

“My beautiful new daughter Harper Blair. “Awesome day,” he tweeted.

In May 2023, he shared a photo of the preteen all grown up on Instagram in honor of Mother’s Day. In the picture, the family of three smiled while standing together on a bridge.

“Happy Mother’s Day babe,” he said to his wife. “You are the best mom and keep a circus running. I wouldn’t want to do any of this with anyone else. We love you.”

Laura Bargatze is a producer on her husband’s podcast

According to LinkedIn, Laura Bargatze works as an executive producer for Nateland Productions, the team behind her husband’s podcast, “Nateland,” co-hosted by Brian Bates, Aaron Weber and Dusty Slay.

Nate Bargatze mentioned working with his wife in a December 2020 Instagram post for Laura Bargatze’s birthday.

“Happy Birthday to the best mom, wife, and podcast producer! And the prettiest. “We love you Laura,” he said.

The pair presumably run the podcast company from Tennessee, where they live 25 minutes from Nashville, Variety reported in 2022.

Laura and Nate Bargatze have turned multiple Hollywood events into date night.

In April 2022, they attended the 64th Grammy Awards together at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The producer wore a black sequined gown while her husband sported a navy and black tuxedo.

Last year, they walked the red carpet at the 2023 CMA Awards. Laura Bargatze wore a one-shoulder metallic dress and the comic posed beside her in a black suit that he paired with a purple shirt and tie.
