MassLive recently asked readers to nominate who they see as Latino and Hispanic leaders in Massachusetts working to bring about change across the state.

Profiles of these leaders will be published during Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15. These are individuals who readers have found inspiring, who can do good deeds for their communities. They are recognized for their achievements, leadership and commitment to inspiring change.

Jasmine Naylor is one of MassLive’s leaders for the Latino and Spanish-speaking community in Massachusetts.Jasmine Naylor

Jasmine Naylor

Age: 39

Community: Springfield

Her story: Jasmine Naylor is the co-founder of Naylor Nation Real Estate, a minority-owned and operated company. She is passionate about using real estate as a tool for positive social change.

The company’s mission goes beyond profit as it seeks to revitalize underserved communities and provide opportunities for underserved families, Naylor said. Services include acquisition and development, construction and renovation of homes, property management, leasing, consulting and real estate education.

“Through our work, we do more than just build homes; we create thriving neighborhoods and support economic growth,” she said.

Naylor said she always knew she would own a rental property because it would help eliminate the housing insecurity she experienced growing up. After graduating from college, she bought a townhome. Another townhome and a mobile home soon followed. Then Naylor and her husband decided they wanted to double down on their investment.

The two have now expanded their rental portfolio to over 30 units, and they also fix and flip properties. They also have a property management company, offer consulting services, mentor others, and organize seminars and conferences, to name a few.

In her words: “You have to tame your body and its desire for shiny things, which will only hold you back from your goals, not from achieving them. The sooner you become disciplined and consistent, the sooner you will be able to dominate the real estate market.”
