CJ announces plan to create separate secretariat for lower judiciary

The CJ made the announcement during a speech delivered today (September 21) before 2,000 judges of subordinate courts across the country at the Inner Garden of the Supreme Court, where he outlined an action plan for the judiciary.

Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed has announced a plan to set up a separate secretariat for the judiciary to ensure the independence of the judicial system.

The CJ made the announcement during a speech delivered today (September 21) before 2,000 judges from lower courts across the country in the Inner Garden of the Supreme Court, where he outlined an action plan for the judiciary.

“I have asked the government to help ensure the independence of the judiciary. Therefore, a separate secretariat will be created. It will work under the supervision of the Supreme Court,” he said.

“Separate rules will be formulated for the promotion of judges. A rule regarding the appointment of judges of the Supreme Court is also needed,” the CJ added.

Meanwhile, Legal Advisor Dr Asif Nazrul and Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman also spoke at the event.

The event was attended by judges of the Supreme Court and the High Court, judges of lower courts and the head of the Judicial Reform Commission, Judge Shah Abu Naim Mominur Rahman.
