Doctor Who stars Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant reunite in touching photo

Doctor Who Actors David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker reunited for a brand new photo.

Both have played the lead Time Lord in the series and have previously collaborated on projects including the ITV crime series Broad Church and the 2009 film St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold.

Yesterday (September 20) they both appeared on Breakfast show on BBC Radio 2 with host Scott Mills and guest Lulu, and posed for a photo with Mills for the station’s gossip piece.

In the interview with Scott, they talked about the phone call David made to Jodie to tell her he was moving back to Doctor Who as her successor, and revealed that he had actually recorded the conversation (unfortunately, the recording was apparently unsuitable for broadcast on daytime radio).

David also mentioned his upcoming role in Rivalsan adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s famous novel for Disney+ with an all-star cast.

The action is set in the 1980s, an era of excess and privilege that Tennant describes as “the moment the world went mad… people started competing with each other, there were terrible people living in the Cotswolds.”

He continued to joke: “The reason Jilly Cooper’s books are still popular is because the characters are fantastic… it’s just a bunch of great characters who do terrible things to each other.

“The yuppies are falling out of it! There are the earliest cell phones, Danny Dyer has a cell phone the size of a house. And it has an ’80s soundtrack, which is so exciting.”

Jodie also spoke about her upcoming return to theatre Princessan updated version of John Webster’s 17th century revenge tragedy Duchess of Malfi.

She promised an “incredible, classic epic that has everything you would expect from a classic play. There’s a lot of death, a lot of emotion.

“But what was out there at the time was incredibly progressive – I think in its simplest form – in terms of silencing women, and written by a man, it was meant to highlight the oppression of women, particularly the duchess.”

She added that the modern interpretation “still has a lot of the classic elements… but it also has a wonderful, contemporary feel.”

“It’s extraordinary that something that could have been written so long ago can have such a big impact, and I think those themes are so relevant today.”

David has played the Doctor many times over the years, from radio plays to A guy from the family cut gags for live performance with The Muppets and of course the 60th anniversary special last year featuring the Fourteenth Doctor.

Now Jodie is also returning to the TARDIS. Alongside Mandip Gill, Jodie will star in a number of Big Finish audio dramas focusing on Thirteen and Yaz. There will be 12 hour-long episodes, which will be released next summer.

Speaking about returning, Jodie stated that she is “over the moon” to be playing the Doctor again.

“Recording the Thirteenth Doctor and Yaz was a really nice thing to watch again,” she said. “One of the things Mandip and I loved about Doctor Who was to come in, do a new episode and meet a completely new cast.”

Meanwhile, the next season of the main program has been announced as well Coronation Street favorite and The Little Mermaid the actor will play alongside Ncuti Gatwa in the remake.
