Why Noel Gallagher Didn’t Perform With Brother Liam At Anthony Joshua’s Fight With Daniel Dubois Despite Burying The Hatchet And Announcing An Oasis Tour

  • Liam Gallagher headlined the Joshua vs. Dubois fight show
  • Fans speculated that the pair might perform after the Oasis reunion announcement

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher gave fans a taste of what the year ahead will bring when he took to the stage at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.

The 51-year-old performed a mini concert of several Oasis songs at the sold-out venue, where both Gallagher brothers will play seven highly anticipated shows in July next year.

Liam was confirmed as the headliner for the heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois long before the Gallagher brothers agreed to fight again in over 15 years.

Following the announcement of the band’s reunion, many fans speculated that Noel might join his brother on stage on Saturday night, nine months before the confirmed reunion date. However, despite requests from the organisers to allow the duo to perform, this did not happen.

So why wasn’t Noel on stage with Liam tonight for the Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois fight?

It’s possible the duo decided not to take the stage together for the Joshua vs. Dubois fight because they simply wanted to have the rematch on their own terms.

Tickets for the highly anticipated tour went on sale in early September, with fans having to brave adversity and ticket sales issues to see their first shows in over 15 years.

So it only seems right that fans will first see this iconic duo on their highly anticipated, sold-out tour rather than at a sporting event.

Ahead of the titanic clash, Turki Alalshikh revealed to talkSPORT that he plans to ask Noel to feature alongside Liam.

The Saudi boxing chief said: “I hope so! It will be amazing if we get them together.”

Asked if he had asked Noel yet, he added: “We’ll try. Why not?”

His comments come after Simon Jordan revealed on talkSPORT a week earlier that he had asked Noel Gallagher about a reunion.

He said: “It’s funny because I asked him – he basically came to the Joshua Buatsi-Dan Azeez fight (in February) – and I asked him about September 21.

The reason he didn’t go was because he didn’t think it would look good if he was in the audience, Liam was singing and he was wearing earmuffs!

“But now they have friends and lots of money to travel the world with.”

On Saturday night, Liam took to the stage to thunderous applause and played some of the band’s best-loved hits, including Rock ‘N’ Star and Supersonic, to a sold-out Wembley venue.

Boxing expert Steve Bunce revealed live that both Noel and Liam were frequent participants in fights back in the 90s when they were at the height of their popularity, with the duo clearly being huge fans of the sport.

Boxing fans at the show chanted “Liam, Liam” between songs as the iconic frontman strutted around with characteristic confidence and almost nonchalance, playing a variety of percussion instruments, including maracas and a tambourine.
