“She’s still Missy, but she’s gone through the loss of her father, she’s acting out and she’s a little rebellious,” executive producer and co-creator Steve Holland told TV Insider during the TCA Summer Press Tour. “And that’s another thing on Georgie’s plate, where he’s trying to juggle being a husband and a father, and also being a caretaker for his sister, who’s having some issues. I think it’s going to be a really fun dynamic when we see them both.”

As previously revealed, Georgie’s mom Mary (Zoe Perry) and Meemaw (Annie Potts) will both appear in the series premiere, but it seems that Missy, as the new male in the Cooper family, will take after him, especially in the absence of her twin brother Sheldon (Iain Armitage).

We want to root for them. And that’s something you do every day.”

Needless to say, that mission was accomplished, as fans loved the Coopers in two different shows and will certainly love them in a third. While Lorre said there was “no plan,” things have panned out quite well as we look ahead to Georgie and Mandy’s story.
