Maridoe Golf Club owner Albert Huddleston was “enjoyed enough with the outcome” of his “dream” of bringing LIV Golf to Dallas that he “has signed up for another event” at Maridoe in 2025, according to SI’s Art Stricklin. Huddleston said, “They’ll be back next year, I can promise you that. It’s been (contractually) agreed upon.” LIV Golf CEO and commissioner Greg Norman was “supported by the thousands of North Texas golf fans” who showed up on NFL Sunday afternoon to watch the action. There seemed to be “more LIV gear in the crowd than the Cowboys or any other NFL franchise.” Now, the question is when in 2025 the circuit will return. Huddleston said he “thought a similar time frame to this year was still in play, specifically next August or September.” But LIV Golf officials said that “discussions are already underway to complete the 2025 season by Labor Day to avoid an NFL monolith.” While four LIV golf events have already been announced for 2025, the rest of the schedule is “still fluid,” with the exception of a return to Maridoe (SI, 9/22).

TEXAS SIZE PARTY: In Dallas, Kevin Sherrington wrote that the LIV Golf Dallas Team Championship “is unlike any professional golf tournament you’ve ever seen or heard in these parts.” From “the DJs to the team concept, the format and the sight of professional golfers in shorts, it was different.” Activities outside the golf tournament included the “Made the Sweet Tea Dunk Tank,” “a putting contest on a guitar-shaped course, a kids’ area, a bubble show, a fake tattoo station and a real mechanical bull.” Sherrington added that “the event is an important part of the story, not a secret subtext.” (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/20).
