Actress Case: Rana Gets Relief From Arrest Till Date | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: The Supreme Court on Monday granted former Vijayawada Police Commissioner bail till today Kanti Rana Dad in a case registered against him following a complaint filed by a Bollywood actress Kadambari JethwaniThe Supreme Court ordered Kanti Rana to cooperate with the investigation.
Kadambari alleged that YSRC officer Kukkala Vidya Sagar forged her documents, falsely accusing her. She claimed that three IPS officers harassed her with a false case. The Ibrahimpatnam police registered a case against Vidya Sagar, former intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, Kanti Rana Tata, the then DCP Vijayawada Vishal Gunni and two other police officers.
While filing the charge against him, Kanti Rana had approached the Supreme Court seeking arrest bailSenior counsel S Sriram, appearing for him, said the DGP had sought a report from the Vijayawada Police Commissioner regarding the involvement of the IPS officers. Based on the report submitted by the Commissioner, the DGP recommended action against the IPS officers, following which the Chief Secretary suspended them from duty.
Since the police have already included the petitioner as an accused in the case, Sriram said there was a strong possibility that the petitioner could be arrested. Since the remand petition would become ineffective, he sought interim protection till the petition is disposed of. Arguing on behalf of the state government, Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas sought time to get the details of the case since the petition was being heard for the first time. He said there was no information as to whether the petitioner had been included as an accused or not. However, Srinivas said the report filed by the Commissioner suggested that the petitioner had given an oral order to book flight tickets to Mumbai on January 31, but the complaint against it was received on February 2.
Srinivas further said that the petitioner had not even given his passport to his subordinates as per the procedure for visiting Mumbai to arrest the actress. Since prima facie involvement had been established, he sought time to furnish the latest details regarding the case and pleaded not to grant any interim relief.
