“For me, (Delvey’s) job was as a professional liar,” he told the outlet, adding: “You’re going to bring this person (on stage) and say, ‘Here’s a platform that a lot of people have been waiting their entire careers to be a part of,’ and also have a moment of personal history (where) they can say, ‘This is who I really am.’ Am I going to believe anything this lady says? Absolutely not.”

He honestly and bluntly assessed Delvey’s programme as “not very good” and “very indifferent”.

“You can blame it on nerves and say, ‘Hey, everyone’s human and this person isn’t used to being at this stage.’ Bullshit,” he said. “Wait a minute — didn’t she trick people into believing she was, you know, fully formed and unique? And that takes a lot of courage. It takes a lot of self-control to present yourself in a certain way, even when you’re that nervous. I don’t buy that ‘she was nervous.’ She’s just — a dancer, and (her) personality isn’t really going to help her in this competition.”

Delvey was arrested in 2017 and charged with multiple counts of theft and misdemeanors. She was released on parole in 2021 and placed under house arrest a year later after being detained for overstaying her visa.
