Coronation Street confirms death in Joel Deering story

Coronation Street teases an unexpected conclusion to Joel Deering’s story next week.

DS Swain declares Joel dead after discovering disturbing evidence, although Dee-Dee Bailey fears all is not as it seems.

Viewers recently witnessed Joel’s arrest after DS Swain’s daughter Betsy provided evidence to put him on trial for his crimes.

Joel has been provisionally released on bail, however his behaviour has become increasingly erratic as Lauren Bolton’s tracking app shows him spending significant amounts of time in a field and at an industrial park.

The villain also makes a dangerous visit to Roy Cropper’s coffee shop, scaring the fan favorite when he shows up drunk and locks the door behind him.

The following week, Dee-Dee notifies DS Swain about a strange voicemail she received from Joel. Swain notes that the message could be interpreted as a suicide note.

Police follow Joel’s phone signal and determine his last location. They find his car parked on a bridge, with a folded note left on the dashboard.

Shortly afterward, Swain announces that the police are searching for Joel’s body, as he likely committed suicide.

Later in the week, Dee-Dee does some leftover activities from her failed engagement to Joel.

She is intrigued when she calls the wedding venue and travel agency, who confirm that Joel has already gotten their deposits back. Dee-Dee passes this information on to Detective Kit Green.

During another visit to the police station, Dee-Dee meets Joel’s grieving father.

Dee-Dee becomes increasingly convinced that Joel is not dead and has fled to avoid justice.

DS Swain is not impressed and steps in, warning Dee-Dee to stop coming up with crazy theories and accept Joel’s death. Will Dee-Dee listen?

Coronation Street will air these scenes on Monday, September 30, Wednesday, October 2, and Friday, October 4.
