Samuel L. Jackson Says He’s ‘Not Giving Up’ on Wife LaTanya Despite Her Doing ‘Crazy’ Stuff in Marriage

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Samuel L. Jackson, 75, has opened up about his long-term relationship with his wife, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, 74.

Despite the numerous challenges they faced in their marriage, the couple has remained strong, with the ‘Unbreakable’ star admitting that their relationship requires a lot of tolerance and understanding.

In an interview with AARP, Samuel L. Jackson shared that marriage is about working through the hard times and deciding not to give up, even when it would be easier to walk away.

Samuel spoke candidly about the complexities of marriage, sharing that it requires “a lot of tolerance because everyone has flaws, and not giving up when it would be easy to give up.”

The actor admitted that he did some “crazy” things during their marriage, and his wife had her moments as well.

Samuel wondered how they dealt with these issues, saying, “Some crazy things happened in my marriage, you know?”

Referring to LaTanya, he added: “She does too, in her head or in reality, but you have to say, ‘Is this a breakup offense?’ Or do we just need to spend some time together and figure it out?”

The “Django Unchained” actor struggled with drug abuse.

LaTanya has previously described the actor as being “always isolated, snappy and irritable” during this period.

Samuel also opened up about the impact his substance abuse has had on his marriage.

“I was a fucking drug addict and I was often crazy, but I had a good reputation. I showed up on time, I knew my lines, I hit my spots,” Samuel said, as noted by OK Magazine.

LaTanya stood by him, giving him the support he needed, especially after he completed rehabilitation and before the new phase of his career began in 1991.

“She gave me a chance to become the man I was supposed to be,” Samuel said of his wife.

Over the years, Samuel L Jackson admitted in a new interview that they grew together, not apart. He revealed that they learned to accept certain things about each other.

“There are certain things you learn to ignore in people — she learned to ignore in me,” Samuel said.

He added: “And one of the things she had to accept is that I’m going to go to work. I’m going to go to work all the time until, you know, it’s time.”

The Pulp Fiction actor also touched on aging and health, explaining, “I don’t pay attention to it. I mean, I pay attention to my body because I’ve had things happen to me.”

He added that he’s working on staying healthy, focusing on flexibility and staying upright. “I have to think about those things and I work on them,” Samuel shared.
