Kaesang’s fashion choices cause a stir – Polityka

Aesang Pangarep, chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) and the youngest son of outgoing President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, was spotted wearing a vest with the words “Putra Mulyono” (Son of Mulyono) written on it in Banten on Tuesday, sparking a fresh wave of criticism of the First Family among netizens.

The name Mulyono is a reference to Jokowi’s birth name. Netizens began using it to express disappointment with the president after public criticism for allowing Kaesang to run for public office in November despite being ineligible due to his age.

Wearing a black vest with a slogan and a silhouette of a man representing Jokowi printed in pink on the back of the vest, Kaesang greeted people during bluesukan (impromptu visit) in Tangerang regency, Banten, on Tuesday. He was seen handing out free milk and notebooks to residents, Kompas.com reported.

People on various social media platforms were quick to criticize Kaesang for his styling.

Several netizens said Kaesang was mocking people who watched his lavish private jet trip to the United States last month, even as protests spread across the country over moves by those in power to bend regional election laws in his favor. Others said he was mocking people who accused his father of abusing his power to bolster his political dynasty.
