Virgin River Season 6 Will Finally Bring Back Its Most Anticipated Scene Ever

Virgin River Season 6 Will Finally Bring Back Its Most Anticipated Scene Ever

Blink and you’ll miss it, but the creators of Virgin River’s sixth season have quietly released a synopsis of the series on Netflix — and confirmed that the wedding we all want is officially on the cards.

Needless to say, fans are hoping that many storylines will be tied up in Virgin River season 6, with Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack’s (Martin Henderson) wedding at the top of the priority list.

Thanks to a quietly released season synopsis, we finally have an answer… the original couple will be get married in new episodes.

The full synopsis on the streaming service’s website reads: “Set against the backdrop of Mel and Jack’s romantic spring wedding season, this sixth installment promises fresh plot twists, developing love triangles, a stunning wedding drama, and uncovered secrets from Mel’s father’s past that will transport us to the magic and mystery of Virgin River in the 1970s.”

For many, this was not a coincidence If Mel and Jack were supposed to get married, but WhenIn Robyn Carr’s original book series, their story couldn’t be further from what we see on screen, as the couple is fully fleshed out in the first book.

We already knew some wedding scenes were filmed earlier this year, but we don’t know whose. Fans have spotted a steamboat in the typical Virgin River filming locations, which was the focal point of the yet-to-be-released weddings.

The synopsis suggests that Mel and Jack won’t be the only couple in love this season, but Deadline also reported that the couple’s wedding has been confirmed for Season 6.

The biggest question now is whether fans will see Mel and Jack as parents in the same series. Mel’s miscarriage was a major storyline in Season 5, while other family storylines focused on Charmaine (who eventually gave birth to twins).

Showrunner Patrick Season Smith previously hinted that their journey to parenthood would be factored into the storyline of the upcoming Season 6, but no specifics have been shared since.

While the all-white wedding is something we can look forward to now, some fans believe it would have been a better finale for a potential Season 7.

“I think this would have to be the final episode and continue into the next season,” someone wrote on Reddit. “I want the characters to celebrate their engagement and see them planning for the big day. I suspect there will be some drama in the middle of the season that threatens Jack’s sobriety, but he manages to get through it.

“Plus, I’d like them to start a family after they get married, unlike some others.”

Virgin River season 6 is expected to hit screens in late 2024. In the meantime, find out why the wrong characters were cast for their supposed sequel, if there will be a time jump, and more about the Virgin River cast.
