John Wick Spin-Off Ballerina Confirms First Trailer With New Teaser

The trailer for the highly anticipated John Wick spin-off Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, has just been released.

Released today (September 25), the 20-second clip features the sound of a carillon with, unsurprisingly, a twirling ballerina announcing that the trailer will drop tomorrow.

Officially titled From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, the upcoming entry in the John Wick universe features de Armas as Rooney. Rooney is a ballerina-turned-assassin who fans of the series first met in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019), where she was played by real-life dancer Unity Phelan.

The spinoff is being directed by Underworld’s Len Wiseman, with John Wick director Chad Stahelski working on additional action sequences. John Wick Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 co-writer Shay Hatten penned the script with Promising Young Woman’s Emerald Fennell and Michael Finch.

Ballerina is set between the events of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4. The film will feature a cameo appearance by Wick, and Keanu Reeves will return as a hitman after the devastating ending of Chapter 4.

Plot details for the new film have not been revealed yet, but it looks like Ballerina, like John Wick, will be a revenge story.

Rooney is said to be seeking revenge following the death of his family.

In Chapter 3, we saw her performing for her adoptive mother, the head of the Ruska Roma crime gang, The Director (Anjelica Houston). The character is set to return in the spin-off, as is Ian McShane as Winston Scott and Lance Reddick in his final on-screen appearance as Charon.

Not much is known at this stage, though footage released exclusively at CinemaCon in April showed a scene where Rooney and Wick meet at a train station.

“You’re him, the one they call Baba Yaga,” she tells him (via USA Today). “How do I start doing what you do?”

De Armas also admitted that he rehearsed the fight scene with Reeves, so we can expect some tense scenes.

Ballerina will hit theaters on June 6, 2025.
