Zara x Stefano Pilati Paris Party invites you to see Gisele, Kate Moss and more

On Thursday, Zara presented a campaign promoting the latest designer collaboration, a co-educational capsule collection by the praised Stefano Pilati. To celebrate the launch, Pilati and Marta Ortega Pérez, presidents of Inditex, Zara’s parent company, hosted a party that evening in a vast, artfully decaying space in Paris’s second arrondissement.

The vast room was littered with deep purple calla lilies and hundreds of taper candles lined with ancient arches. The grazing table, where tasty sandwiches were served, was lined with ripe figs and pomegranates befitting a Dutch still life. The thumping beats made the space rattle (nicely). Bündchen, who appears in the collection’s campaign alongside Pilati in a dramatic series of black-and-white images photographed by Steven Meisel, appeared in court this evening.

“Stefano came to me and said: Gisele, this will be the inspiration for the photos: you are Monica Vitti and I am the director,” said Bündchen, dressed in a Pilati dress and trousers IN. “It’s extremely rare these days to get to play a character. Love it!”

The Zara Pilati collection, which will hit stores on October 3, was largely inspired by the designer’s personal style. Coming from Milan, he is known primarily for the clothes he created – in houses such as Yves Saint Laurent, where he served as creative director in 2004–2012; Zegna; and his own label Random Identities, but he is also recognizable for his unique personality (he has the words “Freedom of Behavior” tattooed on his forehead).

“The collection was based on my personal style and what I would wear,” Pilati said. “It’s some of what I wanted to wear but couldn’t find, and some concepts I’ve had in my head for a long time and wanted to develop.” For Zara, the Berlin-based designer delivered men’s and women’s clothing that ranges from elegant (gently rolled turtleneck sweaters, peacoat sweaters, pleated trousers) to delightfully kooky (ruffled tuxedo shirt, print of tiny strawberries). Prices are reasonable, ranging from $17.90 to $399 per coat. This seems to go beyond the trend cycle that Pilati follows, who argues that “fashion seasons are somehow outdated” and prefers a model where she can “drop things whenever she sees fit.”

What about his burgeoning modeling career? “I’m not a model, I’m not an actor, I’m a designer!” – Pilati said. “I’m not someone who usually celebrates this way. But with this collection, I was really the center of attention.”

A number of stars attended the event, including Kate Moss, director Luca Guadagnino, photographer Mario Sorrenti and models Iris Law, Julia Nobis, Liya Kebede, Caroline Trentini and Moss’ daughter, Lila, who says she sees Pilati as a “fairy godfather.” ” Makeup impresario Pat McGrath got involved and confirmed that she “had fun, had a great time.” Pilati muse, artist and dancer MJ Harper summed up the mood in the room by saying, “I’m in love with him forever.” Pilati Ball!
