Lana Del Rey marries swamp tour guide Jeremy Dufrene in Louisiana

The couple met in 2019, according to a social media post by Dufrene.

Lana Del Rey is a married woman. Entertainment Weekly has obtained a copy of her marriage license to Jeremy Dufrene, which the couple applied for in Louisiana on Sept. 23.

The couple were given 30 days from the granting of the license to get married, and apparently they’ve done just that. The wedding took place on Thursday, Sept. 26 in Des Allemandes, La., the same bayou where Dufrene provides swamp boat tours, according to PEOPLE. The signed marriage license has not yet been returned, according to the Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court.

Representatives for Del Rey (whose legal name is Elizabeth Woodridge Grant) did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

Dufrene is an airboat captain with Airboat Tours by Arthur, a Louisiana company that takes guests on guided tours of local swamps and marshes. “The tours go through swamp, over the marsh, and through moss draped trees. You will see hawks, herons, egrets, and occasionally bald eagles,” the company’s website boasts. Dufrene is one of three captains (including company founder Arthur Matherne Jr.) who guide these tours.

“Jeremy decided life at a chemical plant working seven days a week and shrimping on vacation days was not his calling,” reads Dufrene’s bio on the company’s website. “After a little convincing by his family, he got his captain’s license and started running tours. He quickly realized that this was a great fit and he has never thought of going back to his previous career at the plant.”

Dufrene first met Del Rey in 2019, according to a post on his Facebook page. “Had the pleasure of meeting this gal today,” he wrote in a post on March 21, 2019, alongside photos of himself and Del Rey smiling together. It’s unclear when their romance began, but Del Rey referred to him as “my guy” in a May Instagram post and they attended a wedding together in New York on Sept. 7.

Del Rey is apparently not the only celebrity who has met Dufrene through his tours. Glen Powell posted a photo of himself and Dufrene on Instagram in 2015, calling themselves “J-Bone and G-Trash” and saying “we’re both single and ready to mingle.” Powell is still single today and said this summer that he’s “not chasing love,” but obviously Dufrene is on a different path. Their friendship has apparently stayed strong though, since Dufrene’s most recent Facebook post was highlighting Powell’s May appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “Check my dude Glen Powell out!” Dufrene wrote then.

Del Rey’s music career is still going strong as well. Her most recent album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, was released in March 2023, and she headlined Coachella earlier this summer. Her next album, Lasso, will be her first country project, and though she initially announced that it would be out this September, it seems personal life milestones took precedence.
