Fox Meteorologist Rescues Woman From Flooding During Hurricane Helene During Live Broadcast – Watch

Fox Weather meteorologist Bob Van Dillen made history on Friday when he saved a woman at risk of flooding after Hurricane Helene during a live broadcast.

While reporting on storm conditions in Atlanta, Van Dillen pointed to a nearby vehicle that was stuck in rising floodwaters, and the driver could be heard calling for help. As seen in the video below, Van Dillen initially told viewers that he had contacted authorities and the fire department was reportedly on their way to help the unnamed woman.

“She’s still screaming,” Van Dillen noted, then turned toward the car to tell the driver that emergency services were on their way to pick her up. But when he rushed back to the studio, he seemed eager to help the woman immediately:

Minutes later, when the broadcast resumed, viewers saw that Van Dillen had actually approached the woman’s car and helped her out of it, before carrying her on his back to a safer place. In an interview with Fox News hosts Steve Doocy and Janice Dean, Van Dillen later explained: “I said, ‘You know what, I realize I’m with you, I’m on the air, but I can’t let go. ‘ I dropped everything, took my wallet out of my pants and went inside, about chest deep.

Van Dillen confirmed that the woman was now safe and drying in the Fox vehicle, but by the time Van Dillen reached her, she was submerged almost up to her neck.

“It’s a heroic act, but you know it’s true Never should do something like that,” Doocy lightly admonished, prompting Van Dillen to jokingly ask his colleagues not to tell his wife about the dangerous rescue: “When I finally get home, she’s going to lose her shoe in my butt when she finds out it’s outside. “
