College football scores, games, updates: Kentucky at Ole Miss, Oklahoma State at Kansas State and more

The biggest game of the season (so far) is upon us.

No. 2 Georgia visits No. 4 Alabama in the first top-five game of the season Saturday night. This is the last of four ranked matchups during a busy Week 5 slate.

Here are the biggest matches of the day. Follow along as we break down all the action below.

Time: 3:30 p.m. | Television: Peacock | Line: Notre Dame -6 | Total: 45.5

The Cardinals won a decisive victory against the Irish a season ago at home. And it’s fair to wonder if Louisville is better this season than it was in 2023. Former Oregon and Texas Tech QB Tyler Shough has been very good so far this season, completing over 68% of his passes for eight touchdowns and no interceptions. Notre Dame still looks to rely on Riley Leonard through the air to complement what has been a dominant running game through four games despite injuries along the offensive line.

Time: 7:30 p.m. | Television: NBC | Line: Penn State -18 | Total: 47.5

The Illini knocked off previously undefeated Nebraska in overtime in Week 4 and it was just the third time since 1951 that Illinois had won its first four games. One of the main reasons for this is the improved play of former Ole Miss QB Luke Altmyer. Can he hold his own against Penn State on the road? Opposing QBs are averaging just 144 yards per game against the Nittany Lions.

Time: 7:30 p.m. | Television: ABC | Line: Georgia -1.5 | Total: 48.5

This matchup of perennial playoff teams features two Heisman contenders at quarterback. No QB is responsible for more touchdowns per game than Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, and Carson Beck spent much of the offseason as the favorite for the award. Beck’s 2024 season has yet to live up to the Heisman hype, but it won’t be a surprise at all if Beck has a big game.

Time: 10 p.m. | Television: FS1 | Line: Boise State -7.5 | Total: 64.5

Washington State is on the brink of the AP Top 25 after a 4-0 start that includes wins over Texas Tech and Washington and quarterback John Mateer is getting it going. But the Cougars’ defense is allowing nearly five yards per carry — that’s a mouth-watering stat for Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, who leads the nation with an average of 10.5 yards per carry. There’s a reason he’s the non-QB with the best Heisman odds (+2000) at BetMGM.

Live35 updates

  • Dashboard update

Here’s where things stand as the first wave of games hits halftime:

    Dashboard update

  • Halftime: Kansas State 21, Oklahoma State 13

Both teams were able to move the ball quite well in the first half. The Cowboys seemed intent on starting Ollie Gordon early, but then reverted to a pass-first offense once they started trailing.

  • Halftime: Kentucky 10, Ole Miss 7

The Wildcats controlled the clock in the first two quarters (nearly 22 minutes of possession) and the result was a lead at the break.

  • Landing in Kentucky!

The Wildcats took the lead as time expired in the first half at Oxford. It was a methodical 13-play, 81-yard drive by Kentucky, capped by a pass from Brock Vandagriff to Dane Key. It took 17h30 less.

Kentucky leads 10-7 with 27 seconds left in the first half.

  • Landing K-State!

The Wildcats get another one, this time Jayce Brown catching a deep pass from Avery Johnson for a 55-yard touchdown.

Kansas State now leads 21-13 with just over 3 minutes left in the half.

  • K-State recovers a fumble!

OSU QB Alan Bowman is unable to recover a botched snap and Kansas State comes up with it.

There are five minutes left in the first half in Manhattan.

  • Baylor reduces its deficit

The Bears woke up a bit in Waco after BYU’s strong start, but they still trailed by two touchdowns as the first half drew to a close.

  • Landing K-State!

The Wildcats immediately responded with a touchdown of their own, capped by a Will Johnson pass to Garrett Oakley for 19 yards.

It was a 71 yard drive in 2 plays and it put Kansas State back on top, 14-13.

  • Ole Miss, UK, in first place

As the clock ticked down in the first half in Oxford, Ole Miss was in a dog fight with Kentucky.

The Wildcats trailed 7-3 but had the ball at midfield with just over 2 minutes before the break.

  • Michigan doubles lead over Minnesota

Kalel Mullings moves to Ann Arbor. It was his second rushing touchdown of the game and the Wolverines led 14-0 midway through the second quarter.

  • OSU adds a basket

The Wildcats didn’t give the Cowboys any ground after the interception, but OSU kicker Logan Ward was good from 31 yards this time.

    OSU up 13-7.

  • OK Status interception!

On the next play, KSU’s Avery Johnson misses on a throw and OSU’s Korie Black makes the easy interception.

The Cowboys have a chance to get another quick touchdown on a short field.

  • Flea-proof TD for Oklahoma State!

With all attention focused on Ollie Gordon, the RB returned the ball to Alan Bowman, who found De’Zhaun Stribling for a 77-yard touchdown to give the Cowboys the lead.

  • Ole misses 7-3 against Kentucky

Meanwhile, the top-ranked team in action right now is off to a bit of a slow start.

The No. 6 Rebels lead 7-3 but the Wildcats made a few stops and are moving the ball on the floor.

  • OSU misses short FG

Oklahoma State had another solid drive in the red zone, but this time the Cowboys came away with nothing after OSU’s Logan Ward batted away the kick.

It’s still 7-3 for Kansas State.

  • Baylor Joins Board of Trustees

After falling into an early 21-0 hole against BYU, the Bears scored on a run designed by quarterback Sawyer Robertson late in the first quarter.

  • OSU on the move as first quarter ends

The Cowboys just converted on third-and-long thanks to this killer catch and run by Ollie Gordon. On the next play, he broke loose for another 27 yards.

Gordon has found his footing early in this one and that’s great news for Oklahoma State.

  • BYU goes up 21-0 in the first quarter

The Cougars added another touchdown on the road at Baylor. They overwhelm the Bears early in Waco.
