Harrisburg native Micah Parsons’ injury ‘worse than expected’

(AP) – Dallas Cowboys star player and Harrisburg native Micah Parsons was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys’ 20-15 win over the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football.

Parsons returned from an ankle injury early in the game. He had two tackles, including one for a loss that helped Dallas end a two-game losing streak, but he didn’t record a sack for the third straight game.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Parsons was dealing with a high ankle sprain. The Star Pass player has not missed a single match since his debut season.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Friday that Parsons’ injury was “worse than we expected.”

After the game, Parsons limped around the locker room, and ESPN’s Todd Archer reported overnight that an X-ray of Parsons’ foot/ankle came back negative.

Parsons said he was injured when someone fell on him while he was resting his leg. He was just happy that he managed to win.

“I’m glad we’re finally back in the win column, but we still have a ways to go,” he said. “We can be much better. I won’t stop until we’re damn close to perfect.

Parsons is a two-time All-Pro and had at least 13 sacks in each of his first three seasons. This year he has one sack in four games.

“He’s a great player, a great quarterback,” said quarterback Dak Prescott, who scored two touchdowns to record his 13th straight victory over the Giants (1-3). “Right then, on one of those last possessions, he made a huge jump. Honestly, I just hope it’s nothing serious.

DeMarcus Lawrence left the game in the second half with a foot injury. He had a sack that increased his career total to 61 1/2.
