“SNL” will begin its 50th season on NBC on Saturday

Sept. 28 (UPI) — Hacks Emmy Award winner Jean Smart will host the 50th season premiere Saturday Night Live on NBC this weekend.

Country music star Jelly Roll will be the musical guest on Saturday’s episode of the sketch comedy series, which will be taped in New York.

Newcomers Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline join SNL team that includes long-time cast members Colin Jost, Michael Che and Kenan Thompson.

The series begins a new series of episodes Saturday nighta film about the chaotic first season that hit theaters.
