SBC Zombie Walk set with spooky fun, live music, food, vendors and zombies

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) – The SBC Zombie Walk & Bossier Arts Council invites families and their furry friends to enjoy some undead fun at East Bank Plaza.

SBC Zombie Walk 2024 will take place on October 12 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the East Bank Plaza at 600 Barksdale Boulevard.

Zombies will once again take over East Bank Plaza!(Bossier Arts Council)

This year’s theme is Little Pet Shoppe of Horrors, and your devilish furry friends or other friends are invited to join in the fun!

Zombie Walk: Zom·Beatz 2023(Ryan Hazelton | KSLA)

As every year, participation in the event is free of charge, but during its duration funds and donations will be collected for non-profit organizations. The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana will join in the fun and collect canned food donations during the event. There will also be a LifeShare Blood Center on site, which will collect blood from zombies who are willing to share it. Additionally, the event will raise funds for Shreveport-Bossier Animal Rescue.

Music:

One of the live acts is Dr. Maxamillion, also known as Mack Swans, who recently appeared on ArkLaTex Artistry.

“Mack is a New Orleans rapper and producer currently based in Shreveport-Bossier. His music typically consists of southern vibes combined with contemporary melodies,” reads a statement from SBC Zombie Walk.

Mack Swans explains his process of creating new music and his alter ego in each project, exploring topics of science, ideology and theology.

Holy Witch from Shreveport, LA will also perform at the event. A heavy psych-rock band whose sound is described as “hypnotic, energetic and 70s-influenced, with sharp guitar riffs and solid rhythms.”

Competitions:

Zombie costume contest: Participants are asked to dress up and sign up for the zombie competition. Any Zombie aged 12 and over can register for a chance to win first, second or third place and receive a unique and valuable horror-themed prize. The judges for the Zombie Costume Contest are: NecroManor Haunted House, Mad Cow Masks and Olive Street. Peculiarities; Douglas and Madison Cobb.

Zombie costume competition for children: Children up to 11 years old can join in the fun. The children’s competition will also be judged by Douglas and Madison Cobb. First, second and third place winners will receive custom gift baskets of candy and cookies provided by Sweet Tooth Delivery Co.

Walking Zombie Dog Costume:

Participants are asked to bring their four-legged friends in their best Halloween costume for a chance to win the title of Best Dressed Puppy! The competition will be judged by Howling Hotel & Spa, who will take photos of each costumed dog for owners to keep. The winner will receive a handcrafted gift basket containing items donated by Howling Hotel & Spa, Ezzie Lou’s Barkshop, Hollywood Feed and more!

  • The Shreveport Vampire Manor will return with blood bag lemonade and handmade curiosities
  • Steve’s Snaketuary will have live snakes, custom merchandise and hot sauce
  • Ogletree’s Oddities will sell radioactive jewelry made from recycled uranium glass
  • Howling Hotel & Spa will be taking photos of the animals and handing out dog treats
  • Bossier Parish Libraries will be giving away free Halloween activities, books and other goodies
  • Glassquatch LA will be walking Glassquatch for photos and handing out treats
