Rob Gronkowski left confused as the “FOX NFL Sunday” crew made a funny joke: “Whoa!”

Legendary NFL player Rob Gronkowski was the butt of a “FOX NFL Sunday” prank that left him stunned during a hilarious scene.

Whenever a tight end situation needs to be resolved, the all-star crew will turn to Gronkowski, a four-time Super Bowl champion who should one day don a gold jacket after putting up one of the best numbers in NFL history.

But his Fox colleagues decided to quickly catch him during a fake episode that everyone except “Gronk” knew wasn’t real.

“He thought we were going to be live with an extra segment,” Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer said in a brief summary of the prank. “…The premise was that I was going to break the ‘breaking news’ that the Cowboys were activating a great Pro Bowl quarterback who didn’t exist and Gronkowski needed to go on what he thought was live television to talk about the tight end.”

Gronkowski’s fellow Hall of Famer Michael Strahan suggested in another clip that the team should talk about Russo. This is how the joke begins.

Glazer then began talking about the Dallas Cowboys activating Russo, but Gronkowski remained silent when the fake player was discussed. That’s when Strahan stepped in.

“It’s important because Russo is a complete game changer, he takes the pressure off (Cowboys quarterback) Dak (Prescott), he takes a lot of pressure off the running game, he’s a great blocker, he’s a great receiver,” Strahan said.

After this explanation, host Kurt Menefee approached Gronkowski about his comments about Russo, and although he was confused, he simply ignored it.

“Uh, he’s been out for a while, so he might be a little rusty before he comes back, but I think they’ll give him a chance, that’s for sure, but they also got (Jake) Ferguson, so it’ll be a 1-2 combo,” he said Gronkowski.

Gronkowski tried to turn the conversation to Ferguson, who was the Cowboys’ starting quarterback. However, another Hall of Famer, Terry Bradshaw, went right back to Russo and that’s where things got really crazy.

“He’s the only player in the league who’s missing two fingers on his right hand, so he didn’t play and now he’s back,” Bradshaw said.

“Will it affect him when he catches the pass?” Gronkowski questioned Bradshaw.

The crew tried their best to keep the streak going, but when they couldn’t keep a straight face any longer, Menefee brought in Gronkowski.

“Wow! I was wondering,” a shocked Gronkowski said. “I was going to say right after I finished, ‘Guys, I’ve never heard of Rich Russo in my life.'”

When the show aired this Sunday, Gronkowski let his team know that his “head was spinning” as he tried to figure out how to give the impression that he had knowledge about Russo.

But if Gronkowski has learned anything in this moment, it’s that “I’m always ready.”
