Can total war in the Middle East be avoided? What Biden said

NEW DELHI: Reporters on Sunday asked US President Joe Biden whether he thinks all-out war in the Middle East should be avoided. Tensions have increased in the Middle East, including: Israelconflict with Hamas has now moved to Lebanon Hezbollah.
On Sunday, Biden told reporters the possibility of all-out war “should” be avoided. As he boarded Air Force One, Biden said: “It has to be. We really need to avoid this.”
The announcement came after Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon that killed many people, as well as the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, potentially creating the possibility of Iran and the United States being drawn directly into the conflict.
The White House views Nasrallah’s death as a significant defeat for Hezbollah. At the same time, the administration has tried to tread carefully in trying to stop the outbreak of Israel’s war with Hamas, which, like Hezbollah, is backed by Iran, has escalated into an all-out regional conflict.
Biden indicated he planned to talk to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, although he did not specify when.
