Tyler Perry is receiving praise from Keshia Knight Pulliam and Lance Gross for the opportunities he provides.


Tyler Perry Payne’s house AND Assisted living continues to dominate BET with new seasons and stories that appeal to families.

Season 5 of the Tyler Perry comedy series Assisted living returns to the Pleasant Days Assisted Living Facility, bringing more candid moments, real connections, and hilarity as residents navigate challenges like parenting, dating, and mental and physical health. Courtney Nichole, who plays Leah, delves into the show’s fifth season Assisted living and how the series depicts her real-life experiences as a Chicagoan who moved to Atlanta with her family.

“When we moved in with Grandpa Vinnie, we brought our two kids, tweens and teens, moving them from Chicago to a small town or to the outskirts of Atlanta, but they didn’t really like it,” Nichole explains. BLACK ENTERPRISES.

But despite the “challenges” her character faced in adapting the children to a new lifestyle, season five saw the teenagers grow up, “especially our son,” she says.

“Our son is entering manhood, like all men. I think they know,” Nichole says of Philip growing up in his teenage years.

He explains that it is a “bittersweet” moment for parents, watching children grow up and become more independent from their parents.

“I think we all love watching it. It’s something bittersweet. You look at them knowing you did a great job, and you watch them grow and face life challenges that you went through,” says Nichole.

“But now, to help them deal with it, tell them how, how long you stay with their company and how much you get out of it.”

Meanwhile, Tyler Perry Payne’s house Now in its eleventh season, the Payne family faces life’s ups and downs, handling unexpected situations with grace and laughter, all while learning valuable life lessons. The plot centers around retired fire chief Curtis Payne and his loving wife Ella as they face life’s challenges with their quirky, modern family.

Keshia Knight Pulliam and Lance Gross star as fan favorites Calvin and Miranda Payne, but have also taken leadership roles behind the camera as director and writer. Knight Pulliam, who, given her start, has over 40 years of experience in sitcoms The Cosbys in the 1980s, he shared how the show’s writer, director and executive producer Tyler Perry helped both of their careers by allowing them to play roles on and off screen.

“Not only do you get to see Lance and I on camera in our tangle that we’ve been doing forever as Calvin and Miranda,” Knight Pulliam said. “But you know, Lance is an amazing writer who has written episodes of the show in previous seasons. I direct episodes Payne’s house

“So when we talk about Tyler Perry and the resonance of (Perry’s leadership), not only is it, you know, a chance to be on camera, but we both enjoy the opportunity to be a part of the production on the show side as well.”
