Strictly Come Dancing announces its first elimination

Strictly come to the dance follow spoilers.

Strictly come to the dance broadcast the first elimination of the 2024 series.

This year’s couples took to the dance floor for the second time on Saturday evening (September 28), performing a series of dazzling routines.

After combining the judges’ ratings with the viewers’ votes, Olympic swimmer Tom Dean and his partner Nadiya Bychkova found themselves dancing for a place in next week’s special against ’80s musicians Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones.

Tom and Nadiya were the first to hit the dance floor to perform the Cha Cha to “Boogie Wonderland” by Earth, Wind & Fire. Toyah and Neil then battled to impress the judges with their Jive set to “Nutbush City Limits” by Ike and Tina Turner.

This means the judges voted 3-1 to save Toyah and Neil Tomek and Nadia became the first couple to leave the competition.

While talking to Tess Daly about his elimination, Tom shared how much of his Strictly the journey mattered to him.

“I have had the best time these past few weeks and working with Nadiya has been amazing. I wish I could have gone further and danced more dances,” he said.

“I had a great time and I wish we could play longer. I’m sure we’ll still go to plenty of brunches.”

Meanwhile, Nadiya gushed about her partner, revealing that it was nice meeting him and that he taught her how to “work really hard.”

“To get to know him, I must say that he is not just a three-time Olympic champion, he is a true gentleman who taught me how to work really hard and how to give my all,” she began.

“And you know what? In this show, sometimes you don’t have to win to win, and that’s how I feel this year.”

The resulting episode also included a stunning professional performance to Prince’s iconic 1984 hit “When Doves Cry” and a performance by Ezra Collective featuring Yazmin Lacey.

this weekend, Love Island stars Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec topped the leaderboard after wowing the judges with their elegant Viennese waltz.

Strictly come to the dance aired on Saturdays on BBC One as a spin-off Strictly speaking: it takes two airs weekdays on BBC Two. Both programs can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
