WWE’s Titus O’Neil on Vince McMahon’s documentary: “I have no bad words”

WWE Titus O’Neil he has no problem expressing his gratitude Vince McMahon following the premiere of a Netflix docuseries about the scandal-ridden former CEO.

O’Neil – who currently works as a global ambassador for WWE after a long in-ring career with the company – recently started watching the six-episode Netflix series Mr. McMahonwhich premiered on September 25 and details the legacy of McMahon, 79, who is currently under federal investigation on allegations of sex trafficking and sexual assault by a former employee.

“At the end of the day, what he built cannot be erased,” O’Neil, 47, exclusively said “Nas” weekly. Saturday, September 28, at the HollyRod Foundation DesignCares 2024 Gala in Los Angeles. “It’s sad that the situation has come to what it has, but I don’t have a bad word to say about Vince.”

O’Neil added: “It’s very interesting to hear different perspectives on things, but ultimately I will always be grateful for what Vince McMahon built, for the platform he built for so many people. He is a human being, just like anyone else.”

Meanwhile, McMahon has denied the allegations, although he stepped down from the company a day after the lawsuit was filed.

“Do I tolerate some of the things I have read? No,” O’Neil continued. “But I don’t know everything from the inside out, what’s going on and what’s not going on. All I know is that my life changed because I got the chance to become a WWE superstar. Many people’s lives have been changed by the opportunity to work for this company.”

O’Neil, who retired from the ring in 2021, said his interactions with McMahon “have always been professional.”

“Did we have different views on certain things? Absolutely,” added O’Neil, father of sons TJ and Titus and daughter Leah. “But in the end, he helped me change my life. My children are studying because of the opportunity I have in WWE. They went to private school. All three of my children are studying on scholarships and are doing well. I was able to provide a wonderful life for my family. I have been able to give people in the community a great life.”

O’Neil said he started watching Mr. McMahon with a “very open mind” and argued that much of the narrative – which includes a story about McMahon sketching a plot in which he will impregnate his real-life daughter Stephanie McMahonamong other horror stories – happened before he signed with WWE’s developmental brand in 2009.

“I wasn’t there in the ’90s, I wasn’t there in the ’80s.” O’Neil insisted. “I wasn’t there in the early 2000s. All I know is that I have been there from 2009 to present. I’m grateful for the people in this locker room.”

All six episodes Mr. McMahon is now available to watch on Netflix.
