Sweeney Todd: The demon barber of Fleet Street breaks into the vault
Theater in Hillsboro, Oregon.

STAGES Performing Arts Youth Academy is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (High School Edition) of Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning musical thriller. Opening on Friday, October 11, 2024, so bleak
the captivating spectacle will last until Sunday, October 20, 2024, bringing to life on stage a memorable story of revenge and madness. Directed by Derek Brown, the production promises to be an unforgettable experience, combining stunning visuals, powerful performances and Sondheim’s legendary score.

From the eerie opening chords to the spine-chilling finale, audiences will be gripped by the story of Sweeney Todd, a vengeful barber who returns to London after years of unjust imprisonment, seeking revenge on those who wronged him.

Cindy Wilkins, STAGES Executive Director shared her excitement: “Sweeney Todd is one of those rare musicals that challenges both our amazing performers and the audience. A mixture of black humor, gripping drama and beautiful music creates a unique atmosphere. We can’t wait to share our vision for this classic with the community.”

Auditioning for this show was difficult because 90 teenagers auditioned for the main roles. The cast stars Because Brown as Sweeney Todd i Meek’s bones as Mrs. Lovett with an incredibly talented ensemble bringing this twisted story to life. A great story for Halloween.
