It may be a scary season, but love is in the air on new TV shows premiering this week on Netflix, Max and other streaming services, as well as on broadcast and cable channels.

This week’s new TV show is full of romance. Queer teens deal with young love in the third season of “Heartstopper,” and DC singles hope to find their invisible person in the seventh season of “Love Is Blind.” HBO also presents its newest comedy, the Hollywood satire “The Franchise.” Here’s our guide to the top new TV shows to watch this week.

“Love is Blind”, season 7 (Netflix)

If you feel like the season of Love Is Blind has just ended, you’re probably thinking about the UK version like I am. It was fantastic and much better than the latest American part. But the dating reality show returns stateside to continue the “experiment” in which Washington singles mingle in pods, get engaged and test whether love is truly blind. Even though the cast was drawn from around the capital, there are no politicians in the series, although there is one first: two sisters participating at the same time.

Premiering on Wednesday, October 2 at 3:00 p.m. EST Netflix

Season 3 “The Legend of Vox Machina” (Prime Video)

More dragons, fantastic battles and dirty jokes await us in the third season of the animated adult fantasy series based on the live-streamed Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The story will begin with a huge cliffhanger at the end of season two, with the lovable band of misfits forming a surprising alliance and the ominous reveal of soon-to-hatch dragon eggs. The campaign to destroy the Chroma Conclave continues as Cinder King hunts the Vox Machina. Changelings must battle inner and outer demons to save their loved ones, the republic of Tal’Dorei, and all of Exandria.

Heartstopper Season 3 (Netflix)

Let’s talk about sex! So far, the gay teen romance between Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) has been limited to make-out sessions. But as they grow up and their relationship deepens, they may be ready to physically take things to the next level. Charlie wants to tell Nick that he loves him, and Nick also has something important to confess in return. Meanwhile, Elle (Yasmin Finney) and boyfriend Tao (William Gao) struggle with trans-intimacy and dysphoria. And for all of them, the beginning of the school year means thinking about university plans.

“Velma: This Halloween needs to be more special!” (Max.)

Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred in a special Velma Halloween edition

The spooky season brings all sorts of tricks and treats, like this “Velma” Halloween special. The adult animated series from co-producer/voice star Mindy Kaling picks up on the season two finale, in which Velma dies and her spirit inhabits Scrappy’s body. With only 24 hours to bring Velma back, the gang must find a dark spellbook – all while avoiding the wrath of a vengeful spirit. As the annual sexy Halloween party approaches, Velma and friends must face their greatest fears if they are all to make it out alive.

Premiering on Thursday, October 3 at 3:00 p.m. EST Max

“The Franchise” (HBO)

Hollywood loves nothing more than satire of itself. We’ve seen plenty of examples over the decades in movies (“Sunset Boulevard,” “Tropical Thunder”) and television (“30 Rock,” “The Other Two”). The latest entry in this genre is a comedy that follows the crew of a superhero movie, hard-working, put-upon and underappreciated. “The Franchise” reveals the secret chaos that reigns in the making of superhero movies, similar to the Marvel and DC universes. As the official HBO log says: “Every failure has its own story.”

Premieres Sunday, October 6 at 10 p.m. ET on HBO i Max
