Upcoming Storytime Programs at MCLS Branch Locations – WHIZ

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Library System is gearing up to host some Storytime programs at their Branch Library locations.

The Storytime programs are geared towards babies, toddlers, and preschoolers to help them develop early literacy skills.

Haley Shaw, the Youth Services Manager, says these programs are a core service they provide at the library and they try to host storytime programs every week for the little ones.

“Our branch communities have different patrons then what would visit the John McIntire Library Location and so we like to offer storytimes out at the branches as well,” Shaw explained. “So that people who might live a little further from the main library have the opportunity to bring their kids to storytime, so then they can get the fun experience of coming to storytime at the library.”

The storytime programs are hosted all throughout the week with a Family Storytime happening at the New Concord branch on Thursday, October 3rd from 10:30AM to 11:30 AM.

Shaw says this is a great program to attend to help kids start off on the right food for school.

“It’s never too early to start them on their journey to becoming readers.” Shaw said. “The other thing that is really great about storytime is not only we are helping give the kids the opportunity to hear stories read aloud, learn activities, and do fun literacy based crafts and stuff. But it’s also a great way to model for the adults in their lives, how to read aloud with them, and how to use books at home so that they can continue to build on those skills and grow as readers.”

If you are interested in signing up for any of the Family Storytime programs, you can head to muskingumlibrary.org to register.
