The Coronation Street star talks about making a surprise return to Paul’s funeral

Coronation Street follow spoilers.

Coronation Street Daniel Brocklebank talked to the star Digital spy about Paul Foreman’s upcoming funeral episode.

In Wednesday’s episode (October 2), Daniel’s character, Billy Mayhew, has an emotional day as he leads a memorial service for his late husband.

The traditional service is held on Billy and Paul’s first wedding anniversary.

Shortly before the funeral begins, Paul’s troublesome father, Denny, shows up unexpectedly. Billy warns him to stay out of sight and not cause any trouble, understandably wary after Denny’s shameless plan to rob Paul earlier this year.

Daniel spoke exclusively with Digital spy about this episode on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards on Monday night.

He told us: “It was incredibly emotional to record. That’s true Corrieso fans can expect it to be touching, full of humor and a bit of drama.”

After Denny’s unexpected arrival, Daniel added, “Naughty Denny! What is he doing? He’s so rude. It actually appears.

“Billy is more focused on the fact that she is going to bury her husband on their wedding anniversary. That’s why Denny’s appearance pisses him off a bit.

“I don’t know how much I can say without giving it away, but it causes problems, let’s just say it!”

Billy and Paul’s story was one of the biggest winners at yesterday’s Inside Soap Awards in London.

Peter Ash, who played Paul, won Best Actor and, along with Daniel, also won Best Partnership.

Paul’s journey as he battles motor neurone disease (MND) was also named best storyline. Coronation Street he also took home the main award for the best soap.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
