When it comes to games, there are very few titles that I play often. In fact, I rarely call myself a gamer at all, due to my absolute lack of time to play.

With this in mind, there is one exception to this rule. Yes, my name is Sam and I am addicted to Football Manager. I have loved this game for over twenty years. I first played the iconic Championship Manager 01/02 at the turn of the millennium.

However, my true love for the game started with Football Manager 2005, which means it’s been 20 years since I fell in love with it. Now the release date of the next installment of the series – Football Manager 25 – has been revealed.

As seen in the announcement trailer (link below), the game will be available on November 26. Users will be able to play on PC and Mac, as well as PS5 and Xbox.

However, it is not only a new skin and an updated database. FM25 has been marked as the year of evolution for the Football Manager series, with a number of significant updates set to come into effect.

For the first time, it will be possible to play women’s football leagues in the game. This is a huge blow to fans of women’s football and a significant turning point for the franchise.

The whole thing is also powered by a new engine. Built on the Unity platform, the game has been redesigned from the ground up and represents the most significant technological leap for the series in a generation.

This comes with improved graphics and an improved user interface. Completing all this is a new partnership with the Premier League, which brings officially licensed players and teams to the game.

Everything is not the same

However, not everything is that simple. A series of blogs from creator Miles Jacobson confirmed that this iteration will be missing a number of features. For example, users will not be able to play as an international manager, and there will be no often criticized shouting on the touchline.

This caused some concerns among users. Indeed, it seems more like the first draft of a new era than the divine coming of age we have been promised for many years.

Despite this, I think I will still find my way in the new game. While it’s not the finished product we were all hoping for, the title looks quite revolutionary. I, for one, can’t wait to enter a new era of football management.
