EastEnders fans hear some sad news as they celebrate their 40th anniversary | Soaps

Devastated EastEnders viewers have realized that the iconic and incomparable Lacey Turner will not appear as her alter ego Stacey Slater in the upcoming 40th anniversary celebrations.

Lacey (36) announced yesterday that she is expecting her third child.

She took to Instagram to share the exciting news that her children Dusty and Trilby will soon welcome their siblings.

Her sweet social media post showed Lacey, partner Matt, Dusty and Trilby on the beach, holding photos of the baby’s scan.

Alongside the snaps, Lacey wrote: “Aren’t we so lucky…”

Just hours later, she was seen showing off her baby bump with her co-stars Kellie Bright, Letitia Dean, Diane Pariah, Gillian Taylforth and Balvinder Sopal at the Inside Soap Awards.

While fans were excited about the news, one fan noted that it means they’ll likely have to be discharged to ease Lacey’s maternity leave – and therefore she’ll miss her big birthday bash in February.

One shared a video of former character Dr. May Wright (Amanda Drew) lighting a cigarette and causing the gas to explode, writing: “The fact that Stacey won’t be there for the 40th anniversary.”

Although the plans are still very secretive, we know that the centerpiece will be a live episode.

As you’ll recall, during the 25th show, it was revealed that Stacey was Archie Mitchell’s (Larry Lamb) murderer while Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements) fell off the roof of The Vic.

Another viewer replied: “Won’t they be filming the 40th anniversary in December?” maybe it’s still there if it’s not too far away.
