Rapper Rich Homie Quan’s death was the result of an accidental overdose

Rich Homie Quan’s death was officially ruled an accidental overdose of a mixture of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine and promethazine.

As the days pass, the shocking death of rich Atlanta homeboy Quan doesn’t seem real. When news of the rapper’s death spread on social media, there were suspicions that he had overdosed, but these claims were not confirmed. More details about his death later emerged, amid reports that his girlfriend found him unconscious in their home, with the rapper foaming at the mouth as he moved.

According to TMZThe Fulton County Medical Examiner ruled his death an accident and noted that Quan’s death was an accidental suicide resulting from an overdose of a lethal mix of drugs including fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine and promethazine.

Last month, Quan’s close family and friends gathered to pay their last respects at his funeral, and his family recently released his final track, “Song Cry,” posthumously.

The family also released a statement PEOPLE about how they would like to preserve Rich Homie Quan’s legacy.

“On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Lamar family lost a beloved son, brother, father and friend. Known to the world as Rich Homie Quan, Dequantes Devontay Lamar hailed from the proud city of Atlanta, Georgia and represented the A’s as they traveled the world with their music,” the statement read.

“Though he has left us with an undeniable void in our hearts, we take comfort in knowing that his music and spirit of triumph live on. Quan’s legacy will forever be perpetuated as the soundtrack of our lives. And for that we are grateful. Details of the celebration of life will be shared soon. Thank you all for your kind words and support during this difficult time.”

The wealthy Homie Quan left behind sons Devin, Royal, Khosen and Loyal, and daughter Alayna.
