MARIETTA — Three people have been arrested for their involvement in a Sept. 28 shooting in Marietta that left one woman with facial wounds.

Kylar Wilson, 20, of Marietta, was arrested Tuesday by the Marietta Police Department on one first-degree felony count of attempted murder. Ashton Dugan, 20, and Brendon Pierce, 18, both of Parkersburg, were arrested Wednesday by the Parkersburg Police Department each on one felony count of attempted aggravated assault, one third-degree felony count of tampering with evidence and one second degree misdemeanor count of obstructing official business, according to Marietta Police Chief Katie Warden.

“We were able to identify that Mr. “Wilson is the one who shot the woman,” Warden said.

Wilson, who lives at 725 1/2 Front St., Marietta, was arraigned in Marietta Municipal Court Wednesday, according to court records, and the Washington County Jail website shows him there.

Pierce and Dugan, who live at 3109 Elm St., Parkersburg, and 1046 Laird Ave., Parkersburg, respectively, were arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court Wednesday, according to court records.

The North Central Regional Jail website does not show Dugan or Pierce there, but according to Warden they should be at the jail or being transferred to it shortly. Their mugshots were not available at press time.

The night of the shooting two of the suspects were stopped but were not arrested.

A vehicle containing Pierce and Dugan was stopped in Parkersburg Sept. 28, but they were not arrested because “at that time (we) did not have enough probable cause for an arrest,” Warden said.

Not all the suspects involved in the shooting have been arrested.

“This was a four-person shooting,” Warden said. “We have identified the fourth person. The whole incident is still under investigation. We had probable cause to arrest three of the four (people).”

Warden said there is no danger to the public from the fourth person involved in the shooting not being arrested.

She does not have a date for when charges will be filed against the person, which will be up to the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office. She could not give a timeline for when the fourth suspect might be arrested.

Marietta Police found 38 shell casings at the crime scene and there are still pieces of evidence being sent off to labs, according to Warden.

She said the shooting investigation is not something that can be completed in 24 hours with the amount of people and rounds that were involved.

Marietta Police were responding to a call at 12:55 am Sept. 28 at Fourth and Putnam streets when they heard numerous shots ring out downtown, so they responded to the Advanced Auto Parts parking lot at 200 Greene St. and found a female bystander who had been shot in the face but was still conscious.

“The scene was chaotic… we were able to stabilize the scene until we could get investigators on scene,” Warden said.

She said in the 25 years she has been a police officer she has never seen the amount of gunfire that happened during the shooting.

“It’s extremely unusual,” Warden said.

Marietta Police do not know whether the four shooters were trying to hit the woman or if she was in the wrong palace at the wrong time.

“We’re still trying to piece that together,” Warden said.

The victim was transported to the hospital the night of the shooting and has since been released, according to police.

“She’s doing really well,” Warden said.

Marietta Police will not be releasing the name of the victim, according to Warden, nor are they releasing information about the motive for the shooting at this time or any information about the guns. She did confirm that the guns used in the shooting are handguns and that four of them were involved.

She said the shooting is not believed to be gang related nor do any of the suspects have any gang affiliations.

Wilson has a bond hearing set for 1 pm Oct. 7. and a preliminary hearing set for 1 pm Oct. 9, according to the Marietta Municipal Court website.

Dugan’s and Pierce’s cases have been transferred to Wood County Circuit Court and no further information is available about their cases at this time.
