‘Catfish’ Kamie Crawford Announces Leaving the Series After 6 Years: ‘Change is Hard’

Kamie Crawford announced her departure from Catfish after six years.

The 31-year-old multi-hyphenate became known to fans of the beloved Nev Schulman-hosted show when she appeared as a guest on Season 7, which aired from January 2018 to August 2019.

“When in 2018 I received an email from a complete stranger at Catfishproduction asked if I would like to guest co-host two episodes of one of my all-time favorite shows, I never imagined the life, love, memories and worldwide support it would give me,” Crawford wrote in an announcement shared on Instagram and X, formerly Twitter .

Because Schulman, who has hosted the show since its 2012 premiere, needed a new co-host after Max Joseph’s departure, Crawford officially landed the role in 2020. Cameras followed them as they met people in love online and wanted confirmation of their lover’s identity.

Crawford wrote that “every moment spent traveling the country, meeting so many of you and helping people find love – whether from a partner or finding new ways to love yourself a little more” – has made her “incredibly grateful “.

“My mom always taught me that ‘people don’t always remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel,'” she added, thanking fans for the “outpouring of love I receive every day.”

Speaking about the transition from guest host to permanent co-host of the show, she said: “Thank you for wrapping your arms around me and welcoming me with open arms. Change is difficult, but with your acceptance and love it is much easier to fill some already big shoes.”

Crawford said that becoming a personality on the show was “the opportunity of a lifetime and a chance to fulfill a dream that I’ve been working on since I was 19.”
