Diablo 4’s lead developers share their favorite version of Spiritborn ahead of the launch of Vessel of Hatred

Diablo 4 lead developers Fergusson and Hall share the secrets of their favorite Spiritborn builds ahead of Vessel of Hatred’s release on October 8 – if you can’t wait to play the expansion, learn from the developers themselves.

With Vessel of Hatred, fans will receive the series’ first regional expansion, Nahantu, and a brand new class, Spiritborn.

Inspired by the dense jungle of Nahantu, this class draws on four Spirit Guardians – Jaguar, Eagle, Gorilla and Centipede – which players can mix and match to suit different playstyles.

During an interview with Xbox, Rod Fergusson, head of Diablo, and systems designer Aislinn Hall talked about what makes the new Spiritborn class so special. However, towards the end of the podcast, Fergusson and Hall couldn’t resist sharing their favorite builds.

Fergusson loves the fast Jaguar-Centipede hybrid, calling it a “fast slasher-poison machine.”

Hall, on the other hand, loves the Eagle for its mobility, but admits to being obsessed with the Jaguar’s aggressive, crushing attacks. She summed it up by saying, “kill fast, kill more.”

The Spiritborn class doesn’t just look cool – it also has some serious gameplay depth. You can combine the skills of any of the Spirit Guardians, leading to endless variations.

Fergusson mentioned Centipede’s ability to plant eggs in enemies, which explode to create poisonous clouds, doing his dirty work for him. For someone who plays Diablo and kills in record time, this class is characterized by ruthless efficiency.

As for Vessel of Hatred itself, the expansion is packed with new monsters, co-op modes, and darker, scarier landscapes. The ancient jungles of Nahantu are rife with Mephisto’s corruption, and players can expect all kinds of horrors as they enter the new region.

With the release date just around the corner, it’s time to familiarize yourself with the Spiritborn builds and the mechanics of the Vessel of Hate. The expansion will be released on October 8, along with a co-op mode called Dark Citadel, the Undercity region, and the Mercenaries mechanic.
