Before the wedding, the decked-up groom stops at the Haryana polling booth | Latest India News

“I want to convey the message to everyone that casting votes is very important,” Sunil Kumar said after casting his vote in the Haryana assembly elections.

Sunil Kumar became the main attraction at Kurukshetra polling booths on Saturday when he reached there to cast his vote in his wedding attire.

A groom from Haryana’s Kurukshetra district exercised his voting rights before getting married.

“I want to send a message to everyone that voting is very important. Nobody should waste their vote,” Kumar said after voting at the polling station in Ladwa seat.

“I will get married after casting my vote,” Kumar told PTI Videos.

He said that although he was late for the wedding, but voting was more important.

Kumar’s mother appealed to the people of Haryana to come out of their homes and vote in large numbers.

Polling for all 90 assembly seats in Haryana began on Saturday morning amid tight security arrangements, with Prime Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker among the first voters.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is hoping for a hat-trick of victories in the Assembly elections in the state, while the Congress hopes to return to power after 10 years.

The votes will be counted on October 8.
