ESPN College Game Day with a Visit to Eugene

ESPN College Game Day with a Visit to Eugene

EUGENE- The ESPN College GameDay pregame program will make its 12th appearance in Eugene on Saturday, October 12, as the No. 6 Oregon Ducks host the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes at Autzen Stadium.

The highly anticipated game has been sold out since May and is currently the most expensive college football game on the secondary market, with tickets costing as much as $2,000.

After beating Michigan State, the media was ready to ask Oregon coach Dan Lanning about the matchup with the Buckeyes.

“We finally got there,” Lanning said. “(Ohio State is) a great team, obviously they’re going to do a lot of things. There’s a reason they’re one of the best teams in the country. It will be a great challenge for us and our fans will have to show up and be phenomenal at it.

The Oregon Ducks enter Saturday’s game undefeated after a 31-10 victory over the Michigan State Spartans on Friday, October 4. The Buckeyes defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 35-7 on Saturday, October 5.

Both Oregon State and Ohio State entered the 2024 college football season as Big Ten and national championship favorites. Oregon remains undefeated after Week 6, and the Buckeyes will likely maintain their perfect record as well after Saturday’s game against Iowa.

The upcoming Oregon-Ohio State game also marks a historic moment for both teams as it is the first time the Ducks and Buckeyes will face each other as members of the same conference. Even though both Oregon and Ohio State have appeared on college gamedays the past three years, both the Ducks and Buckeyes have yet to appear on GameDay in 2024, making Saturday’s matchup an excellent an opportunity for College GameDay to see both teams.

Ohio State is no stranger to the attention surrounding College GameDay. The Buckeyes have the most appearances in series history with 59 and the most game day victories with 40 wins. The Buckeyes have also hosted the most times, hosting GameDay at the infamous Horseshoe 23 times.

Oregon, on the other hand, has made 28 appearances on College GameDay and last appeared in 2023 when the Ducks flew north to face their rivals, the Washington Huskies, in Seattle. The eighth-ranked Ducks fell to the Huskies 46-43.

Two years ago during the 2022 season, Oregon hosted the College GameDay pregame show when the No. 9 Ducks defeated the No. 10 UCLA Bruins 45-30.

According to FanDuel Sports, the Ohio State Buckeyes are currently favored by 2.5 points. However, Autzen Stadium has a reputation as one of the hardest stadiums to play in and one of the loudest on the West Coast, giving the Ducks an undeniable home-field advantage.
