Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh admitted that they were so lost in the sex scene that they didn’t hear anyone shouting “cut”.

The award-winning actors, 41 and 28 years old respectively, will star in the upcoming romantic drama We Live in Time, directed by John Crowley.

We Live in Time follows the characters of Andrew and Florence, Almut and Tobias, as a chance encounter changes the trajectory of their lives, all while knowing how much time they have left.

The film, scheduled for release in the UK in early 2025, also includes elements of time travel and has been screened at recent film festivals.

After its unintentionally hilarious poster featuring a rather significant carousel horse went viral online, more and more behind-the-scenes gossip is helping to sell the film to potential viewers.

Andrew admitted that he and his Oppenheimer co-star didn’t hear anyone shout “cut” while filming a sex scene for the film.

“We were doing the first take of this very intimate, passionate scene,” he told 92NY during a recent Q&A session. “It’s a closed set, which means it’s just me, Florence and the cameraman, who is a wonderful man called Stuart.

– And he is very polite, very sweet and gentle. The principal is in another room next door. And so the scene becomes passionate, and we get into it and go a little further than we intended.

He continued, “I feel safe and we just… move on from the next thing to the next thing, we’ll let it happen and we’ll just keep going,” before revealing that he eventually noticed that Stuart had stopped filming.

Not only did Stuart stop filming, but he also turned to face the wall, apparently waiting for Andrew and Florence to realize that the scene was in fact over.

In response to a story shared on Instagram, Renzalisasis asked, “Where is the intimacy coordinator?” Lol,” and JustBzNYC098 said, “It wouldn’t be the first time that so many actors and actresses just work so well together.”

Some wondered whether this story should be public information. LounqeAct posted a photo that simply said, “We should all know less about ourselves.”

The comments come shortly after a “We Live in Time” poster went viral featuring a goofy carousel horse that managed to sneak into an adorable shot of Andrew and Florence embracing.

“The horse is killing me!” Gilluis Pérez exclaimed on X, while user Abby H demanded a sequel with a new star of the series: “I want another movie with only a carousel horse.”

“At this point the horse needs to get a third bill and renegotiate the contract,” noted US cinema chain Regal – and that’s not a mistake.

Protagonists Andrew and Florence meet after she accidentally hits him with her car, sending them into a tumultuous experience of love, life and loss.
