TL;DR

  • Google Play Services is getting a new section that will help users discover new features across Android and Google apps.
  • The upcoming “What’s New” section will appear in the Google option in your device settings.
  • It will redirect users to a feature expansion page with some of the most noteworthy additions.

Google regularly introduces new features to its apps and services to help you get the most out of your Android phone. However, keeping up with all the latest developments isn’t easy unless you’re an aficionado, so it’s not uncommon for the average user to be completely unaware of a feature’s existence. To avoid this, Google is introducing a new section on the Google Play Services page that will highlight some of the most noteworthy new features available on Android and the company’s extensive suite of apps.

Some APK Abandonment helps predict features that may appear in the service in the future, based on code in progress. However, it is possible that such anticipated features will not be made publicly available.

The upcoming “What’s New” section will help you discover new features that Google is rolling out every month to Android and its suite of apps. To access it, you need to go to the Google options in your device settings and click on the new classifieds tab.

As you can see in the attached screenshots, a “What’s New” tab will appear under the Featured and All Services buttons on the page. It will take you to the existing “feature drop” page in Google Play Services, which showcases some of the notable features introduced each month.

Google Play Services already notifies users when a website is updated with the latest features. However, if the user accidentally dismisses the notification, there is currently no way to navigate to the feature drop page. The upcoming “What’s New” section will act as a shortcut to the page, allowing users to access it in case they miss the notification.

We have noticed the “What’s New” section in Google Play Services version 24.40.33, but it is not available to users. Google will probably introduce this feature in a future update. We will update this post as soon as it is widely available.
