Ron Howard’s ‘Eden’ Joins 2024 Toronto Film Festival Lineup

Ron Howard’s Survival Thriller Eden The film’s world premiere is scheduled for September at the Toronto Film Festival, organizers said Tuesday.

EdenProduced by Imagine Entertainment, the film stars Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney, Ana de Armas and Daniel Brühl and is based on true events from Tetris writer Noah Pink. The film will be played as a gala at Roy Thomson Hall.

The world premiere of Anderson Paak’s film also took place in Toronto. K-Pop; ShepherdsBy Antigone director Sophie Deraspe; and Superboys of Malegaon, by Indian filmmaker Reema Kagti, which will be played as a gala by Amazon MGM Studios. The film based on the life of Nasir Shaikh tells the story of an aspiring filmmaker who joins a group of friends to make a film for his city, Malegaon.

K-Pop marks the directorial debut of Grammy Award-winning artist .Paak, starring Yvette Nicole Brown and rapper Jonnie “Dumbfoundead” Park. The dramatic comedy follows a washed-up Los Angeles musician who tries to revive his career by joining a band at a K-Pop competition show in Seoul, only to discover that his long-lost son could end up fronting one of the country’s hottest new groups.

Shepherds is a book adaptation of a Canadian novel Do you think so too, Berger?tells the story of a young advertising executive who leaves his life in Montreal to become a shepherd in France, only to discover that pastoral bliss comes with hard work.

The second announcement on Tuesday is the world premiere of John Crowley’s love story We live in timestarring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield. StudioCanal is behind the film, which was directed by Crowley, who directed the romantic drama Brooklyn and Garfield’s breakthrough role Boy A. He will direct the film based on a script by playwright Nick Payne. We live in time follows a couple whose chance meeting changes their lives as they fall in love, build a home, start a family, and face difficult truths.

Earlier, Toronto announced that Cate Blanchett will receive the TIFF Share Her Journey Toronto Groundbreaker Award, David Cronenberg will receive the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award and Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams will receive the TIFF Tribute Performer Award.

Previous Tribute Awards recipients include Jessica Chastain, Roger Deakins, Colman Domingo, Brendan Fraser, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Joaquin Phoenix, Taika Waititi, Michelle Yeoh and Chloé Zhao.
